“Meringue for a Memory” was a physical, edible installation designed to spark conversation about the emotional power of food. Visitors were invited to take a homemade meringue (I perfected the recipe over the course of 5 trials, and really tested my arm strength with the hand mixer) and, in return, participants shared a personal food memory with me.

Through this exchange, the project explored food not just as sustenance, but as a carrier of nostalgia, identity, and connection. The installation created a space that was intimate, sensory, and participatory.

Ultimately, these memories served as inspiration for a 5-foot oil painting entitled “Food Homes”, which was then printed onto table linens. The intention behind the linens is to invite diners to create new food memories, atop and around those already embedded in the design.

The memories from Meringue for a Memory, transformed into a 60x30 inch oil painting on canvas.

And then printed onto a set of table linens, an invitation for new food memories to be made around them. Accompanying the installation was a printed “menu,” featuring a selection of the personal food memories which inspired the work.
